I have a small alligator head that i picked up in Florida last year and i want to know....?
Hm. The answer before mine could be right DEPENDING on what process was used to preserve the head... nowdays some of the cheaper heads on the market are freeze-dried and not sealed correctly... if any moisture comes in contact with an area that hasn't been sealed properly on a freeze-dried mount, you're in for quite a stink after a while. Safest method if you're not sure if it's a freeze-dried head or not is to wipe it down with a soft, dry cloth and not let the dust build up on it to begin with. The eyes are gl or plastic either way, so you can carefully clean them with a paper towel moistened with gl cleaner, but I'd be very careful about getting any moisture on the skin itself if there's any possibility that it's a freezedried head.
