We live in cynical times question?

I feel like relationships have changed over the years. Or maybe im just becoming more cynical but Everyone is so selfish and looks out for themselves i dont think love exists anymore. Its who can you trust the most basically. Its basically Find someone who wont screw you over in the end. Marriages never last and the ones that do last they were in the 40's or 50's when they were together which relationships were totally diffrent back then..chivalry is dead Is this true or have i just become pessimistic towards relationships.
